No More Training Wheels for This Kid

Payson has been trying out his bike all summer long, but just had no urge to get the training wheels off.  Having very long legs made it intimidating to get up on his tall bike.  But, one friday evening after dinner Payson said he was ready to really try out the two-wheeler bike.   Todd and I had been telling him he was ready, we have a balance bike and he cruises down the hill on our street with no balance problems all the time.  Todd was at a work function but Dillon and I headed outside to cheer Payson on.  It took just a few times and we had success!

Payson just kept getting better and better - Dillon thought it was pretty awesome!

And just like that, we had a bike rider.  Payson did great - and proof that he will wait until he is ready and when he is ready and puts his mind to it he can do anything!

Weekend at the Broadmoor

After a great first week back to school and Mommy going back to work, we needed to relax.  The opportunity came up when Aunt Mimi and Uncle Alan happened to be down at the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs and invited us to come down and spend the day at the amazing pool.  We were not going to turn down that invite.

The waterside was where we spent the majority of our time - this slide was straight down and both Payson and Dillon loved it!

The boys REALLY wanted to stay the night at the hotel - it truly is a beautiful place!  A great family fun day!

1st Day of 1st Grade

Payson was so excited to start 1st Grade - it meant a full day of school and eating in the cafeteria!  We had some big changes going on in the Land House.  Dillon was starting preschool this year, and I have decided to go back to work part time.  I have found an amazing part time opportunity at the home office for Floyd's 99 Barbershop.  I will be working every day, so that is going to be a little challenging, but overall, I am happy to no longer be working nights or weekends.  Next time I will just not have my first day be on Payson's first day of school.  That was tough!

Good Luck Payson - you are going Rock It in 1st grade - can not wait to see what a fun year you are going to have!

Sumer is winding down.....

But we are still managing to have a lot of fun.  This is what our couch looks like during cartoon time - it takes a lot to get comfortable.

To end the summer Todd decided that a boys sleepover in the backyard was a great idea.  Brewer was excited to share his backyard and get in the tent with the boys.

The girls enjoyed a quiet evening in the house, I delivered popcorn to the tent while they watched a movie - not really roughing.  Disney got brave enough to even drink water out of Brewer's dish.

Running through the fountains at the park is a great way to cool down....

and checking out the new Children's area at the Denver Nature and Science Museum.
Before school started we got up to Keystone for one last summer visit.  Even more fun that cousin Mattias and new baby cousin Nicholas were up there also!

The hair on this baby is awesome.

Kidtopia in River Run is the best place to spend the afternoon.

Finished up our baseball season.

The night before the first day of school, Payson lost a front top tooth.  Added to the excitement when having dinner at Nana and Granddad's house.

Bring on 1st Grade!
