This cowboy wants to own a farm....but a petting zoo will do

Are you starting to see a theme. Payson loves cowboys and farms. Since there are not many in th heart of Highlands Ranch, we do what we can do. We decide to visit the Petting Zoo at the Park the other day with Payson's buddy Jake. The boys had a blast running from each animal and laughed so hard with the calf head butted the goat out the way when he wanted a drink out of the water bowl! I think the pig might be the laziest pig I have ever seen, but the boys really enjoyed getting eye level with him to check him out!

If you live in Denver and have never been to Bellview Park I highly encourage it - the petting zoo, the train, and the creek to play in created three hours of fun for the boys and three hours of nap when we got home. Enjoy!

Hanging with Daddy

We finally all got to the pool a few weeks ago - it is crazy that summer is almost over and Todd, Payson and myself finally got to the pool together. This weekend is supposed to be very hot, so I have not doubt that we will be there this weekend also! Payson loves to just float along, not really that excited about going under the water or the slides yet, but really enjoys watching the other children at the pool.

Another activity that you forgot about unless you have a child is the thrill of rolling down a big grassy hill. It's the simple things we like best! A few weeks ago we were celebrating Emery's 1st birthday at the park and Todd and Payson could not resist having a little fun on the big hill. As you can see they both giggled and laughed the whole way down. I laughed as they both attempted to walk up the hill so dizzy and for the most part walking sideways!

You turn your back for 1 second....

I am biased, but I think Payson and his buddy Hudson are a pretty cute pair. Wouldn't you agree? The boys play really well together and have even started to call each other on the phone. I will need to record their conversations because they crack me up. Anyways, getting together for a BBQ seemed innocent enough. The boys playe great outside before we all headed inside. Off to the playroom they went and we did check on them about every 10 minutes - I PROMISE. Well, we got to talking and I realized it had been awhile since we had checked in on the boys. Never fear, they were coming up the stairs - Payson first and then Hudson and this is what we saw!

Yep - the boys got into the art activity box and found the markers - luckily washable. They were pretty proud of themselves and if Emmie and I could of stopped the tears of laughter we might of gotten upset. Luckily no damage to anything except the boys.

And now I know the meaning of....if it is too quiet in the playroom, run immediately, someone is up to NO GOOD!

Hang with Friends & Many Summer Birthday Celebrations!

Summer time to us means BBQs, hanging with friends and frequent trips to Dairy Queen. As I review our pictures from just the past few weeks you can see we have had a lot of fun doing all three!

1st up - BBQ with friends - gathered around the picnic table is Samantha, Hudson and Finn.

This cowboy is never too far away from his horse. At the summer party at Highlands Ranch Learning Center Payson had a blast on the horse and giggled his way around and around on the train with his buddy Jake!

We were excited to celebrate Emery's 1st birthday party - it was hot and muggy that day, but she had a perfect tu-tu for the occassion. Dressing little girls is SO different than dressing little boys!

A quick trip to the zoo for the Einstein's Company picnic is always a great time - especially when we got a bracelet for unlimited rides on the carousel!

Rounding up our July birthdays - Griffin turned 3. Payson and Griffin share a love for Lighting McQueen, so the theme was perfect. They also seem to share a love for Tootsie Roll Pops! Even though there were a million activities to keep the children entertained, it seemed like everyone had a blast using Todd as a jungle gym. I think Todd was sore for about 4-5 days after the party.

Beating the Summer Time Heat & 1st Movie Theater Experience

This summer has been hot, but we have found many ways to beat the heat. Pools and parks have been one of our favority hang outs.

Of course we have no shortage of fun toys in our own backyard. This great big ball from Pottery Barn kids is a quick fix when we just want to splash around in the sprinkler. The water table is also a lot of fun. As you can see, we want to play outside before we can even get in swim trunks - we are still in our jammies on this particular saturday morning!

Then...Daddy took a camping trip with friends so Payson and I went on a date to the movie theater! Payson's first experience and he is hooked. He talks about it all of the time and comments every day when we drive by the theater. We saw Toy Story 3 - and of course this required bringing along Buzz and Woody. Eating theater popcorn was great! Payson did an awesome job, sat in his seat for the 1st 45 minutes and then moved to my lap for some extra snuggle time. I didn't mind at all!
