Easter 2013

This year there were a lot of comments on how early Easter is, but we could not have asked for a better day weather wise.  It was 70 degrees and perfect to play outside.  The Easter bunny did not skip our house and left the boys with some awesome treats.
The boys were happy to check out their loot, but eggs had been delivered to the yard and we did not even take to the time to get out of our jammies to go out and hunt for eggs.

I was very impressed with the teamwork between the boys.  Payson was a great big brother always making sure that Dillon could find some eggs.

After breakfast Todd and I surprised the boys with golf clubs.  Payson is starting jr. golf this summer and we knew he had to be outfitted with some new clubs.  I can not wait to start going to the driving range with him.  He is a natural - just check out the video and see that Dillon is not too bad himself!

Got to love my commentating on this video - I was surprised he made such solid contact.  Moving forward we will only be using plastic wiffle balls in the backyard - we can not be breaking the neighbors windows!

Payson's Big Mountain Ski Adventure

For the ski season of 2012 and 2013 Payson has officially graduated out of ski school. This is not to say he will not be back next year for some lessons, but this year he was ready to conquer the big mountain after his final lesson.

Payson's final lesson was on the chair lift - he loved it!

A good day of skiing always calls for Hot Cocoa!

I was thrilled to have him as my ski partner. Daddy played with Dillon for the day and Payson and I headed out for our adventure together. Payson was so excited to go up the big chair lift and I was a little nervous. I told Todd at lunch that I realized that now skiing with Payson makes me really put all of my senses on edge. Not only am I looking around for my skiing, but I am looking around for Payson. Payson blew me away with how great he did. His skiing style is very similar to Todd. He likes to go fast, and I kept having to encourage turning because he just wanted to go fast. We did luck out - the night before our skiing adventure Keystone received 8 inches of fresh snow. Although it was Spring Break, it was very cold and the mountain was not crowded at all. Not knowing how long Payson would want to ski, Todd and Dillon joined us for lunch. When I questioned Payson on going back with Daddy, he said - NO WAY. I want to ski more with you all day! I was so excited. As I mentioned, the weather was really cold, so I did not want to take my gloves off for two many photo opportunities. But, here is a quick video of just how awesome Payson did!
To celebrate our big day, we ended the day in the ski lodge and shared a huge rice crispy treat and a root beer. What a perfect day to make lifelong memories!

Spring Break 2013

We lucked out with amazing weather for Spring Break this year. We spent the first part of the break in Keystone and then came home to have fun with friends. Payson and Dillon have been begging to go to Check E. Cheese, so they were thrilled to meet up with some friends and school one morning to play. Check out this face - Dillon was loving this ride. I think I counted and he rode it 13 times in a row! That is a lot of tokens.

We also went to the Children's Museum with some great friends visiting from Iowa. It is so hard to believe Emma was 3 in our wedding as a flower girl and is now 13. She was so great to play with the boys. I want to steal her for the summer to have as our Summer Helper!
Dillon is finally getting the hang of driving the tractor. With the nice weather we practiced a lot around the backyard.

The one thing we had to accomplish this week was haircuts - the boys were long overdue. After a failed attempt to try a new place that went out of business, we went back to our stand by at Cool Cuts for Kids. I think they did a great job. Always makes me take a double take the first 24 hours after a hair cut.

The next day when Dillon woke up I realized that we needed his hair a little shorter. He was very confused on why we were headed back to the hair cut place, but the lollipop was motivation enough. I personally could not get enough of the faux hawk he received. He looked AWESOME.
We spent a lot of time outside playing for Spring Break - park time with friends was the best!
A good day at the park always calls for Dairy Queen. Bring on Spring and warm weather - we are soooo ready for it around here!

Pick a Potty

And so it begins....Potty Training for Dillon. I am entering new territory in parenting on this subject as Payson was still in full time Day Care during this process and I will admit they did the majority of the work. We are just starting off slowly. Some days he is very interested and most days he is not. We did get out the froggy potty that Payson had, and then Todd surprised Dillon with a Lightening McQueen Potty, and of course the regular potty. At this point, I do not care which one he picks, I just would love it if he picked a potty!

(I understand that Dillon will probably not be very happy with the publishing of this photo, so here is probably the cutest photo I have taken of Dillon recently. It melts my heart!)
